Hi, my name is Ayu. I own Sunny Florist Bali from our little shop in Seminyak, which is about twenty minutes from Canggu depending on traffic (and in Bali, always assume there's traffic). If you're reading this you're probably somewhere else entirely, trying to send flowers to someone in Canggu. Maybe your partner who's doing a yoga retreat. Maybe your friend who relocated and won't stop posting sunset photos on Instagram. Either way, I've got you covered.
I grew up in Gianyar making offerings with my grandmother. Spent years working hotel floristry before opening this place in 2013. Now it's just me, my husband Kadek who does deliveries, and our three year old Wayan who thinks he's in charge. You can read the whole story on our about page if you're curious, it's embarrassingly long but people seem to like it.
Canggu isn't where I grew up but I know it well now. We deliver there almost daily. To the villas along Batu Bolong Beach where everyone seems to work remotely. To Echo Beach where the surf schools are. Down Pantai Berawa way where it's gotten so busy you can barely park anymore.
The thing about Canggu is it's changed so much. When I first started delivering there it was still pretty quiet, just a few warungs and rice fields. Now it's cafes and co-working spaces and people on scooters who definitely just learned how to ride one (you can always tell). But it's still Bali underneath all that. Still beautiful. Still worth sending flowers to someone there.
We deliver to pretty much anywhere in Canggu. Hotels like Alila Seminyak and The Lawn Canggu. Restaurants like La Brisa (right on the beach, stunning spot), Finns Beach Club, and Deus Ex Machina where everyone goes for coffee after surfing. Mason in Echo Beach. Crate Cafe where the brunches are enormous. We've delivered to The Slow (multiple times actually), Milk & Madu, and that Italian place Gusto Gelato.
Also beach clubs. So many beach clubs. Finns, La Brisa, Atlas Beach Fest. Villas along Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong, Jalan Pantai Berawa, pretty much any street with "Pantai" in the name. Co-working spaces too, which is a newer thing for us. Apparently people like getting flowers delivered to their hot desk, who knew.
Most of my Canggu orders are for people celebrating something specific. Birthdays are huge, especially for the expat crowd who can't be there in person. I made an arrangement last month for someone's girlfriend who was turning 30, he was stuck in Australia and feeling awful about missing it. She posted about it on her stories (I saw it, yes I sometimes creep our customers' Instagram, don't judge me). She cried. Good tears though.
Anniversaries too. Lots of couples do the Canggu thing, rent a villa for a month or three, work remotely, live the dream. Nothing says "I'm glad we did this" like flowers showing up at your villa. One couple we delivered to has ordered from us three times now for different anniversaries, they keep extending their stay.
Then there are the apology flowers. I'm Sorry is one of our most ordered categories, which tells you something about human nature I suppose. Someone forgot something important. Someone said something they shouldn't have. Someone was supposed to book the restaurant and didn't. Flowers won't fix everything but they're a decent start.
We get Thank You orders often as well. For yoga instructors, for villa staff, for the person who helped someone figure out their visa situation. Bali runs on kindness and gratitude, sending flowers is just the tangible version of that.
Mother's Day is massive here. So many expats with mothers back home feeling guilty about the distance. You can't ship flowers internationally easily but you can send them to your mum's friend who's visiting Bali. Or to your mum if she's come to visit you, which some do. Those orders always have the longest card messages, I've learned not to read them too carefully or I'll get emotional and then Kadek makes fun of me.
When someone orders from us to Canggu they usually want something that feels Balinese but not too traditional. Tropical but not tacky. Our 12 Red Roses with 3 Calla Lilies arrangement does really well there. It's romantic without being over the top. The calla lilies add that bit of elegance that works for villas and nice hotels.
For birthdays people often go for our bigger bouquets. The 24 Red Roses if they're really trying to make an impression, which honestly, fair enough, 24 roses is impressive. If it's more casual maybe the 6 Red Rose Bunch, which is lovely and doesn't cost a fortune.
We also do a Bali Massage package with flowers and chocolate, which sounds gimmicky but it's actually perfect for Canggu. Everyone there is either recovering from surfing or recovering from last night or both. Flowers plus massage voucher plus chocolate, that's basically Canggu in a gift.
I use local Balinese flowers as much as possible. Frangipani, jasmine, hibiscus, things that actually grow here and smell amazing. They last longer in this heat too, imported roses wilt fast in Bali humidity. If you really want roses though I can do that, I'm not going to tell you no, it's your money.
You order online or call us. You tell me where in Canggu, what you want, what the card should say. I make the arrangement that day, usually in the morning when it's cooler and the flowers are happiest. Kadek delivers it. If he's at work (he still does construction) then I deliver it myself, Wayan comes along and provides commentary from his car seat.
We deliver seven days a week. Canggu doesn't really do weekends differently than weekdays, everyone's always on holiday or working remotely or both somehow. We usually deliver between 10am and 4pm. If you need it earlier or later just ask, we're pretty flexible. Living in Bali teaches you to be flexible, rigid plans don't survive first contact with Bali traffic.
Same day delivery works if you order before noon. After that it depends on where I am with other orders and whether Kadek is available. I'll tell you honestly if we can do it or not, I'm not going to promise something and then disappoint you.
Good question. There are lots of flower options in Bali now, especially in the Canggu/Seminyak area. Those Instagram shops with the neon signs and the perfect styling. The big hotel suppliers. Apps that promise delivery in an hour.
Here's what we are. Small. Personal. Real. When you order from Sunny Florist Bali you get me making your flowers. Not someone in a warehouse. Not a production line. Me. I've been doing this since 2013, worked hotels before that for years, learned from my grandmother before that even though she was making offerings not bouquets.
I care about what I send out. Not in a customer service script way. Actually care. If it's for someone's birthday I think about my own birthdays. If it's an apology I hope it works (they usually do, flowers are good at apologizing). If it's just because someone wanted to do something nice, that's the best kind.
We're not trying to be huge. We're not trying to compete with the fancy places or the cheap places. We're just trying to make good flowers for real reasons and not mess it up too badly.
Addresses in Canggu can be weird. Villa names change. Streets don't always have clear signs. Gang alleys all look similar. If you have a Google Maps pin or a What3Words location that helps massively. Also a phone number for the person receiving them, just in case Kadek needs to call for directions. He's gotten good at finding places but some villas are properly hidden.
Cards are included always, no extra charge. Write whatever you want. I've seen marriage proposals, breakup apologies, inside jokes I don't understand. Whatever it is, I'll write it nicely and attach it to the flowers. My handwriting is decent, Kadek's is terrible so I always do the cards.
If you're ordering from overseas and worried about time zones, just tell me. I can work with whenever you need it delivered in Canggu time. I'm used to coordinating with people in Australia, Europe, America. Bali is ahead of most places or behind them depending which way you go around the world, it confuses me too sometimes.
If something goes wrong, I fix it. Wrong villa, wrong flowers, wrong anything. I'll remake it. Redeliver it. Refund you. Whatever makes sense. This is a small business and my reputation is everything, I'm not going to mess you around.
I should probably mention, a lot of our Canggu orders are for Love and Romance category. Which makes sense, Canggu is that kind of place. Sunsets, beaches, infinity pools, everyone's very attractive and tanned. People fall in love there. Or remember why they fell in love. Or try to fall back in love.
We do a lot of Valentine's Day orders to Canggu. Valentine's in Bali is big, way bigger than I expected when I first started. Everyone's at dinner on the beach, everywhere's fully booked. Having flowers delivered to the villa before dinner is smart, gets you points before you've even left.
But honestly the best orders are the random ones. Not Valentine's or an anniversary. Just Tuesday. Just because. Those are the ones that matter most I think. The "I saw these and thought of you" flowers. The "I'm glad we're here together" flowers. The "I love you" flowers that don't need a special occasion.
Canggu has a way of making people feel things. Maybe it's the sunsets. Maybe it's being away from regular life. Maybe it's the sea and the heat and everything being slightly unreal. Whatever it is, flowers fit into that. They make sense there.
Thanks. I know I go on a bit, Kadek is always telling me to get to the point faster. The point is, if you need flowers delivered to Canggu, we can do that. Properly. Personally. With actual care.
You can order on our website or call us. If Wayan answers just ask for his mother, he likes answering the phone but he's three so don't expect much useful information.
We're not perfect. Sometimes traffic is horrible and deliveries run late. Sometimes the flowers I wanted to use aren't available and I have to substitute. Sometimes Wayan knocks something over and I have to remake it (happened yesterday actually). But we try hard and we care about what we do.
That's the main thing really. We care. You're trusting us with something that matters to you, someone you care about receiving something beautiful. I don't take that lightly.
So if you need flowers in Canggu, we're here. Same little shop in Seminyak we've always been. Same commitment to making it right. Same me, Ayu from Gianyar, just trying not to mess it up too badly.
